Yvonne Simons, who was born in Holland, paints sequences of figures, which appear to be scenes in a dream. Each canvas presents nude figures in some gesture or powerful emotion, in either movement or repose. Painted in lush, rich tones, each canvas is a symphony played on a single color. From pastel pinks, reds, dark purples, stormy grays, they move from despair to hope. Yvonne has exhibited her work at galleries in New York and the Netherlands, was featured in radio and television documentaries, was co-founder of the Dutch “Women in the Arts” Movement, Deputy Executive Director of the South Street Seaport Museum, and is currently Executive Director of the Anne Frank Center USA. Yvonne is truly a modern day renaissance woman.
